Last night we slept well after eating floppy American style pizza whilst watching Monday Night Football. Couldn't make head nor tail of the game but the talking heads were entertaining.
Today it was off to the Mall after checking out the breakfast buffet. Was enjoying my eggs until Lachan said he saw them being cooked from a mix that arrived in a plastic bladder. The donuts were stale and there were no Cheerios but a break from sugar was a good thing......
Got to the Metro station to buy tickets but could not purchase them from a machine because we had no zip code. I thought the station guy would enter one for us but no, he said we had to go back up to a drugstore and get our tickets there. Silly us - thinking we could buy train tickets at a train station.....
Two drugstores later, we had tickets and went back down to catch our train. Only took us about 30 minutes to get organised........
We came up at the Mall - selfie time.
It was then onward to the Air and Space Museum, a Smithsonian museum. The Smithsonian consists of about 14 museums and they are all free which is great as there is no pressure to get your money's worth if it is not doing if for you.
I love the NASA logo - it's just so sixties and I Love Jeannie.
The Spruce Goose model up against a DC 10 caught my eye - what a monster plane.
A beautiful Spitfire.
And personal memories of WW2 airforce guys which was moving.
After this museum, we parted ways. Lach took the girls to the Museum of Natural History. Me? I would rather poke myself in the eye than look at rocks, dinosaurs and ratty old stuffed animals.
It was off to the Museum of American History for me. The 1812 Stars and Stripes was particularly moving for some reason. I also loved George Washington's uniform. He was so tall.
Dad - Jack Warner's phone and address book.
Georgie - one for you.....And remember these before Maccas got all environmental???
Finally, the definition of torture: "When one is in the Smithsonian Museum of American History Bookshop and there is no space in the suitcase for books". Simply agonising.
